Clayton Translations

I am a translator based in Brest, France, specialising in French to English translation of technical documents and scientific papers. In particular, I practice in the fields of psychology, engineering, computer science and virtual reality, though I accept commissions for any kind of French to English work.

Quotes for translations are available by e-mail or telephone. I am proud of the personal service I provide, with each translation tailored to meet your needs. From beginning to end you will deal directly with the person responsible for your translation—me! I am always happy to hear from new clients, and will be available to answer any questions you may have about the translation process. Drop me a line and we can discuss your requirements.

My background

As a native English speaker, I graduated from University of Wales, Swansea in 2005 with a BA Joint Honours in French and Psychology. From there I went on to an MA in English and finally a postgraduate diploma in technical writing and translation, both at The University of Brest.

I have lived in France for four years now, during which time I have worked both as a translator and teacher, both independently and under contract. I have taught English as a foreign language to both children and adults, and continue to teach specialised and conversational classes for student nurses and engineers. Besides my freelance translation projects, for which I have had the opportunity to work on commission for well known technology and software companies, I have worked under contract at Brest National Engineering School (ENIB), where I specialised in translations for their research and development laboratory, the European Center for Virtual Reality.
